Exploring Unforgettable Narratives

Stories do not always have neat, tidy endings. A moment is observed and captured, and something has happened. But what? What does it mean? What's that moment really about? Love, or loss? Stillness? Or ecstacy? Or trouble, guilt, and redemption?

These tales beg to be told; not for what they have to teach us but for the questions they ask.

Meet Alan Rice

Alan teaches Literature and Composition at Haddam-Killingworth High School in rural Connecticut, and took up writing after his "retirement." His stories are often moments in time, seemingly insignificant events that prompt a question that begs to be answered, or at least explored. He delves into his characters' psyches with both honesty and compassion, and vividly paints the textured and nuanced environments in which they dwell. He has been influenced by the writing of Hemingway, Alice Munro, and Ian McEwan. His stories have appeared in Night Picnic Journal, Blue Lake Review, Change Seven Magazine, The Brussels Review, and elsewhere. His collected published fiction,"Are You Okay?" And Other Stories is available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble

Reader's Voices

A.E. Arlin

A beautiful set of stories. I enjoyed every single one. Some of them bend toward the supernatural. All of them are a little slice - just a short period of time in the characters' lives.

Liam Thompson

"Are You Okay? is a compelling fusion of suspense and psychological introspection. Alan Rice's evocative prose and vivid descriptions kept me engrossed. Highly recommended for those who appreciate a masterful narrative."

Ella Parker

"Alan Rice's storytelling is enchanting. His stories, particularly "The Seventh Wave" and "Eddie," are filled with evocative settings, complex characters, and profound saychological and emptional depth. A true wordsmith!"
